Covid 19 and the Artist
“ What stands in the way, becomes the way” – Marcus Aurelius.
I love this quote, how pertinent to what life has become for most the world. At the present time Florida, as well as much the world is on lock down to stem the flow of Covid 19, and has left many Floridians wondering how to spend their new found time. For many of us, we are looking at this lock down as just another obstacle, another problem stopping us from checking off the myriad projects that have become the essence of our busy lives. May I suggest an alternative? A possible yielding to the new “way”? Instead of waiting out this horrible pandemic by sitting frustrated watching the news, or numbing ourselves with the television, let’s use this time to get back in touch with our parched souls. Does that sound a little over dramatic? Parched souls. Let’s face it, when is the last time you did something to nourish or feed your soul? When is the last time you even considered you had a soul? When is the last time you just stopped, and listened? Watched the sunrise? Read a good book? Actually picked up the phone and talked with a neighbor? Or maybe learned something new, for no other reason than because you wanted to? Let’s make the best use of this time. Let’s make a decision to actually nourish our souls, because before you know it, we will be back to the business of life. We will quickly forget and never be able to get this time back again. After all, when we are busy running around, time seems to be among the most valuable things we can’t seem to get enough of.
But before you do that, please just give thanks to God and pray for all the brave Nurses, Doctors, EMS, Policemen and Firemen on the front lines.
